Frequently asked questions

1. When do I have to return the items by?
If you don’t return a faulty item within 30 days, you’ll lose your right to a full refund (unless the seller’s offered a longer guarantee on the part) and may be offered a repair or a replacement instead. So if you’re after a refund, raise the issue and return the item as soon as possible. When you are cancelling the contract because you ordered the wrong part or changed your mind, you have 14 days to cancel the contract and then 14 days after that to return the item. Again, it’s best to do it as quickly as you can!
2. What happens if I can’t get a refund from the seller?
Things get a bit more tricky here, we’re afraid. You might need to speak to your bank, card provider or PayPal as appropriate (check out our guide to buyer protection). If that still doesn’t work out, let us know by email at help@breakeryard.com and give us all the information. We’ll see what we can do.
3. How do I get a refund?
Whether your part is faulty (you have a 30 day refund period), or it was the wrong one/you just changed your mind (you have 14 days to cancel the order), you need to get in touch with the seller.
4. Why have I been sent the wrong part?
It does sometimes happen as different parts may not fit different makes and models. It might be that you made a mistake in the information you gave. It might be that it was correct but misleading (For instance, sometimes the year a van or car is made in can be completely different from the year it was first sold. Nightmare.). Or it might just be a good, honest mistake on the part of the seller. We know that doesn’t make it much less frustrating so keep reading to find out what to do.
5. What happens if I get the wrong part?
Don’t panic! Under consumer law you are entitled to a 14-day return and refund period if you bought the part long distance.
6. Am I entitled to a refund?
Good news, guys. If your vehicle part is faulty then yes, under consumer law, you have a 30 day refund period after the purchase. Some of our sellers will have longer guarantees though! If you’ve just changed your mind, or if you bought the wrong part, then you still have 14 days from the day you receive the item to cancel the order (as long as you bought it long-distance). And yes, you should still get a refund!
7. What should I do if I'm sent the wrong part?
Let the seller know straight away and make arrangements to return the part for a refund or replacement. Make sure you keep proof of return. The information you have about the part might not be correct, if that is the case try contacting the manufacturer for part information and, in particular, the part number. That’s often helpful in pinning down the correct part.
