About Throttle Body

The Civic Honda throttle body is a part of the engine's intake system which regulates the amount of air that is mixed with fuel for combustion.

The Civic Honda throttle body houses a valve or flap know as the throttle plate which opens and closes to regulate airflow into the enginer. This is controlled by movement of the accelerator pedal by the driver although may also have additional input from the engine control unit (ECU).

The Civic Honda throttle body is located on the top of the engine between the airbox/air filter and inlet/intake manifold which are often connected together with rubber, silicone or metal tubing.

Problems can occur with the Civic Honda throttle body due to a build of of dirt or soot causing restrictions in the air flow or movement of the throttle plate.

Honda Civic trivia

  • Quentin Tarantino loves a Honda Civic. Not only is it the car that Bruce Willis is driving when he runs over gangster Marcellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) in Pulp Fiction, the same Honda Civic SL gets driven by Pam Grier in Jackie Brown, and can even be seen parked outside the bar in Kill Bill Volume 2!
  • The 2016 Honda Civic was awarded the Kelley Blue Book ‘Best Buy of the Year’.
  • The Honda Civic hit the US just as the 1973 oil crisis hit, giving it an immediate advantage. Its ability to use both regular and unleaded petrol made it ideal, and it also got 40mpg. Much better than its US-made counterparts.
  • Honda released three different styles of the eight-generation Civic, depending on the country. Europe got one style, the US got another, and Asia/Russian got their own style too. The European one was the fan favourite, though.
  • Canadians love the Honda Civic. For the last fourteen years, it has been the top-selling car in the whole country.
