About Heater Matrix

A Evora Lotus heater matrix is a small box located behind the dashboard of the vehicle and is built in a similar way to a radiator, and has hot water/coolant running through it, but instead of radiating heat it has air passed over it by a fan and the air is heated. When the driver turns the heater controls in the vehicle, the Evora Lotus heater matrix operates and the passenger compartment of the vehicle is heated.

The most common reason for Evora Lotus heater matrix damage is blockage. These are difficult to unblock, and it is often easier to replace the Evora Lotus heater matrix rather than attempt to have it unblocked.

Signs that the Evora Lotus heater matrix is damaged can include a lack of heating in the vehicle, or finding coolant in the front passenger side footwell of the vehicle. If you turn the controls and only receive cold air, it is possible that you have an issue with coolant and the Evora Lotus heater matrix should be checked. You may also notice a fine mist of coolant on your windscreen if a Evora Lotus heater matrix fails. This is caused by the coolant being found in the ventilation system.

Lotus trivia

  • The V8 Ford Cosworth DFV engine was designed and built by Lotus, and it not only got 409bhp and could reach 180mph, but it also got 12 wins in F1, including 19 pole positions, 13 fastest laps, and 23 podiums.
  • Geely Holding, the Chinese company, is now a part-owner of the Lotus brand and has already started manufacturing Lotus models in China, including an SUV. Geely also immediately approved the production of two new sports cars.
  • There's a lot of mystery over why the name Lotus was chosen for the company. The most obvious answer is that it has something to do with the Lotus flower, but the connection to a UK car company is unclear. One of the best suggestions is that it relates to the Norfolk way of saying "...us lot", which was a favourite of the founder.
  • British cult tv-show 'The Prisoner' featured a Lotus Seven in the show and in the opening credits. The Lotus Seven was chosen because it was the preferred car of star Patrick McGoohan, but he never was one for numbers. The Seven was due to have production halted, but a surge in popularity after The Prisoner's success saw those plans quietly cancelled.
  • The Lotus headquarters are based in Norfolk, on a site that used to be a WWII airfield. You can buy tickets to visit the factory where their cars are built too, because unlike most manufacturers they won't expect you to buy one of their cars just to get a tour.
