About ECU Transmission Control Unit

The 206 Peugeot ECU transmission control unit is an on-board computer which electronically controls the transmission of the vehicle. TCUs can be separate from, or in this case, attached to the ECU. The 206 Peugeot ECU Transmission Control unit contacts sensors that are placed around the vehicle to receive data in order to accurately calculate when to change gears and which gear to use as well as improve fuel economy and drive quality.

These sensors include the vehicle speed sensor, the wheel speed sensor, the throttle position sensor, the turbine speed sensor and the transmission fluid sensor. The TCU also uses data sent from the ECU. This controls and maintains the efficient running of the engine as well as scanning for any abnormalities in its function.

If a 206 Peugeot ECU transmission control unit begins to fail, you may notice a loss of power, error message or difficulty in changing gears. This problem can be intermittent at first, and can sometimes be rectified temporarily by turning off your car and turning it back on again after a short while. Ultimately though, any damage to a 206 Peugeot ECU transmission control unit will need to be repaired to correct the fault.

Peugeot trivia

  • Peugeot has won the European Car of the Year an incredible five times. The earliest win was in 1969, and the latest was as recently as 2017 (the Peugeot 3008).
  • You know the name Ettore Bugatti and the brand that bears his name, but did you know that Bugatti also designed the four-cylinder engine in 1912 for the Peugeot Bébé? You can't miss that unmistakable Bugatti look once you know that fact, and the car quickly became France's best selling car.
  • Peugeots, especially the 504, are incredibly popular in Africa and have been affectionately called Africa's workhorse. The 504 is a model that seems particularly well-suited to the rough terrains of Kenya and Ghana.
  • It's hard to believe, but the Peugeot company was founded in 1810! Of course, it didn't make cars then. Instead, it built pepper mills, salt mills and, eventually bicycles. It wasn't until 1889 that the first Peugeot car was made (they only made four of them, and they were powered by steam).
  • In 1913, one of Peugeot's motorsports team, Jules Goux, not only won the Indianapolis 500 but also broke the World Speed Record. He was the first European to win the Indy 500, and the 7.6-litre car was dubbed the fastest vehicle of the time.
