About ABS Modulator

The 95 Saab ABS modulator is an air valve which controls the air pressure that streams into the brake chambers.

Located close to the engine, near the fuel filter, the 95 Saab ABS modulator is part of your car's hydraulic pump assembly.

The 95 Saab ABS modulator is sent messages from the ABS Control Unit ECU, when a wheel is likely to lock and skid, and it adjusts the air pressure in the brake chamber to stop this from happening.  Basically, the 95 Saab ABS modulator, along with the ABS Control Unit ECU and pump, allows you to maintain control and brake safely and smoothly by regulating the air pressure in the wheel brakes.

If there is a fault with your 95 Saab ABS modulator the warning light will show on the display panel, perhaps having shown intermittently before, and the system will disable itself. The Check Engine Light may also show on the display and your speedometer could stop working. A faulty ABS modulator may affect braking when driving slowly.

Saab trivia

  • There was lots of controversy over the Saab 93 in Sweden. Not so much the car itself, but the marketing for the vehicle clearly showed a young couple in bed together, but the woman wasn't wearing a wedding ring. Complaints poured in from shocked Swedes, and Saab hastily added a wedding ring.
  • The character of Jerry Seinfeld drove a classic Saab 900 convertible. It wasn't shown much onscreen, but viewers did see him sell it and buy a newer Saab.
  • The Monte Carlo Rally is always a big deal, but the first Saab to win the event was in 1929, with a Swedish-born woman behind the wheel. Greta Molander went to take the Ladies Cup in a Saab in 1952.
  • The Saab 900 was built between 1978 and 1993 and is the best selling Saab ever. In that time, it sold a total of 980,817 cars, around half of which were the convertible model. They can still be seen on UK roads very regularly.
  • Saab was the first car manufacturer to install heated driver's seats. That's because one of the Saab executives suffered from a bad back that was particularly painful on cold mornings.
