About Throttle Body

The Agila Vauxhall throttle body is a part of the engine's intake system which regulates the amount of air that is mixed with fuel for combustion.

The Agila Vauxhall throttle body houses a valve or flap know as the throttle plate which opens and closes to regulate airflow into the enginer. This is controlled by movement of the accelerator pedal by the driver although may also have additional input from the engine control unit (ECU).

The Agila Vauxhall throttle body is located on the top of the engine between the airbox/air filter and inlet/intake manifold which are often connected together with rubber, silicone or metal tubing.

Problems can occur with the Agila Vauxhall throttle body due to a build of of dirt or soot causing restrictions in the air flow or movement of the throttle plate.

Vauxhall trivia

  • Vauxhall's first-ever car had a whopping five-horsepower and didn't have a steering wheel! Instead, it used a tiller for guiding direction, along with two forward gears. Who even needs a reverse gear?
  • It's the Corsa that is, by far, the most popular make produced by Vauxhall. Even as late as 2019, there were twice as many Corsa sales as there were of any other type of car.
  • If you're looking for a real bargain, you can't go wrong with the Vauxhall Viva. This small hatchback is the cheapest model that Vauxhall makes!
  • If you thought you were seeing mostly grey Vauxhalls on the road, your eyes aren't going funny. It's the most popular colour for Vauxhall cars.
  • The colour yellow that Vauxhall uses on its cars is named 'Maddox Yellow,' after pensioner Richard Maddox had his Corsa vandalised. Residents of the small village of Arlington where Maddox lived thought the car and the colour were ugly!
