About Bumper Grille Centres
The BMW bumper grille centre is a rigid panel with a grating, basically parallel slits or vents running vertically, or a mesh construction, that covers the centre section of the bumper, allowing air to flow through into the engine compartment and offering some protection to the bottom part of the engine.
The BMW bumper grille centre is fixed to the front of the car, directly on to the front bumper. The BMW bumper grill centre also acts as a filter, stopping dirt, stones and other road debris from entering into the body of the car.
Centre bumper grilles are made from a variety of materials, commonly stainless steel, ABS plastic or aluminium and come in a variety of styles and finishes.
Positioned at the front of the car, the BMW bumper grille centre takes a bit of a pounding on the road over time and can be subject to dents, marks, chips and scratches. It can fall prey to knocks and bumps and prone to damage in a frontal crash. It is important that you choose the right replacement BMW bumper grille centre for the make, model and year of your car.
BMW trivia
- It might not be the accessory that everyone needs, but for BMW drivers in South Africa who were worried about carjackers, the 'Blaster' was a flamethrower that shot huge flames from either side of the car. Not currently available in the UK…
- The famous German pilot, the Red Baron, called BMW engines the 'greatest in the world' and ‘the best engine in the war’.
- One of the reasons older BMWs keep their value is because it's easy to get spare parts for even the oldest models. That's because BMW has carried on making car parts, even for cars that were built in WWII.
- The BMW M1 has a classic look, so it's no surprise that its designer also came up with some other amazing car designs. Giorgetto Giugiaro is also responsible for the DeLorean, the Beretta U22 Neos handgun, and the Nikon D4 camera! Although, he also designed the Yugo, commonly called the worst car that's ever been made.
- That distinctive BMW car engine sound that new owners fall in love with might not be real. The BMW M5 has such a quiet engine that they had to install fake engine noises to keep drivers happy!
