About Interior Lights
The BMWinterior light in a motor vehicle is one of the more useful aids to a driver and passengers. Its operation is simple yet extremely effective, ensuring that whenever one of the doors of the vehicle is opened, the BMWinterior light is activated, enabling the interior of the car and its contents to be clearly visible in even the darkest of conditions.
In most vehicles the BMWinterior light is positioned within the vehicle immediately above the dashboard or around the ceiling. In some larger models of car there is more than one BMWinterior light to ensure that light is shed around the whole of the vehicle’s interior. The BMWinterior light unit connects to the vehicle’s battery independent of the ignition system, enabling it to be engaged at any time that one of the doors is opened.
Some interior lights are capable of being tilted in order to cast light on a specific spot within the vehicle. There are generally three basic controls that are available for the use of a standard BMWinterior light. The usual mode enables the light to switch one when one of the vehicle doors is opened and to switch off (sometimes with a short delay period) when the door is closed. Alternative settings are permanently on and permanently off.
The BMWinterior light serves as a useful aid to drivers and passengers in all vehicles during the hours of darkness.
BMW trivia
- The BMW company was founded way back in 1916 and originally manufactured engines for planes. High demand for plane engines during WWI was good news for BMW, but they carried on making plane engines right up until 1945.
- Electric cars might be all the rage now, but BMW built their first one in 1972 and called it the BMW 1602e. It didn't quite make it to market though, thanks to the fact that it could only hold a twenty-minute charge.
- The main headquarters for BMW in Munich is designed and shaped to look like car parts. There was a whole new 'four-cylinder' building added on in 1973, and there's definitely the look of an engine about the architecture.
- The very first BMW was named the 'Dixi'. They hadn't designed it (it was really an English Austin), and they dropped the name 'Dixi' very quickly, instead opting for the rather more grandiose BMW 3/15 DA-2. Rolls off the tongue!
- The BMW M1 has a classic look, so it's no surprise that its designer also came up with some other amazing car designs. Giorgetto Giugiaro is also responsible for the DeLorean, the Beretta U22 Neos handgun, and the Nikon D4 camera! Although, he also designed the Yugo, commonly called the worst car that's ever been made.
