About Headlight Switchs

The Chevrolet headlight switch operates the headlights in a vehicle. It’s located on the dashboard and when operated manually by the driver has the option of operating different lights depending on the driving conditions, for example; the fog light option could be used when driving in fog. Often, the Chevrolet headlight switch also has an option to decide the intensity of the light beam used when driving.

Some vehicles have automatic headlight operation which means that the on board computer decides if lights should be activated depending on the lighting conditions whilst driving. Some vehicles with this option also have a switch to enable the driver to turn the lights out if not needed.

If headlights are failing to light, the first thing to check is the headlight fuses. It may be however that the issue is with a bulb in which case this should be replaced. Chevrolet headlight switch failures are not uncommon due to the repeated use of this part when driving. Some vehicles will indicate their failure by using a warning light on the dashboard or a warning noise. If a switch fails it should be replaced so lights can be used as normal.

Chevrolet trivia

  • The company might have his name, but Louis Chevrolet wasn't there for long. He'd previously worked as a mechanic for other car manufacturers, and would eventually go onto become a well-established race car driver for Buick.
  • The first Chevrolet was a bit of a disaster. Nobody wanted to buy the car, probably because the price was higher than other, similar vehicles. It was only when Louis Chevrolet left that the company started to turn things around.
  • The first Chevrolet was the iconic series C Classic Six. It sold for the very low price of just $2,150. That's about £1700 in proper money.
  • The weirdest Chevrolet experiment was the Chevrolet Turbo Titan II in 1965. This was the same year as the first US spacewalk, and the car has a real space theme happening. Most bizarrely, it didn't have a steering wheel and instead had two large dials so that it looked more like a games console controller or DJ desk than a car.
  • When it comes to innovation, it's hard to get angry at Chevrolet for being the first company to install 4G wifi in its cars.
