About Brake Master Cylinders

The Lexus brake master cylinder is a crucial part of the vehicle’s braking system.  It is used to convert the mechanical force from the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure in order to stop the vehicle.  The brake system is split into two circuits and the pressure in each circuit is controlled by the Lexus brake master cylinder.

The Lexus brake master cylinder consists of two reservoirs for brake fluid and two pistons, and is attached to the brake lines.  When the driver depresses the brake pedal, this pushes on the first piston which causes pressure to build up in the Lexus brake master cylinder.  As this pressure builds up it causes the second piston to compress the brake fluid.  This pressure should be even in both cylinders.  If it’s not, it is most likely caused by a leak.  In the case of a leak, the Lexus brake master cylinder to operate using one piston.  This will cause the driver to have to press the brake pedal down further and further until eventually the brakes will fail.  Any damage to the Lexus brake master cylinder should be minimised and the master cylinder should be repaired immediately.

Lexus trivia

  • The Lexus LS has a unique engine sound, largely thanks to the company calling in sound engineer experts from audio specialists Yamaha to fine-tune the notes of the engine.
  • In 2018, Lexus sold almost 700,000 cars, and since its founding in 1989 has sold a whopping 10 million vehicles. That makes Lexus the fourth best-selling luxury car brand in the world after Mercedes, BMW, and Audi.
  • Although Mexico is a huge market, Lexus doesn't have a single dealership there. While Lexus has a presence in over 90 countries, they are conspicuously absent from the 13th largest car market on the planet!
  • Lexus spent a reported £1billion on developing the first generation LS. Reportedly, 1400 engineers were recruited, 2300 technicians worked on the car, and 450 prototypes were built.
  • Although you could buy a Lexus car almost anywhere in the world, it wasn't until 2005 that they started selling in Japan!
