About Aircon Condensors

The car's air conditioning system basically conditions the air, which means whilst cooling the air in the car down, it also helps to ensure there isn't too much moisture in the car, so it stops the air getting too humid.  The car's air conditioning unit also cleans the air in the car by filtering the dust and other particles from the air inside the car.

The Mercedes-Benz aircon condenser, usually made out of aluminum, is situated in front of the engine's radiator. It looks a lot like a radiator, is usually about the same size or a bit smaller than a radiator and a bit thinner, and is sometimes referred to as the aircon radiator.

Hot gas or vapour is pumped from the Mercedes-Benz aircon compressor into the Mercedes-Benz aircon condenser where it is cooled and turned back into a really cold liquid which is pumped into the Mercedes-Benz aircon evaporator and flows into the car as cold air. This whole process is then repeated over and again.

If the air conditioning system is losing refrigerant vapour, it could be a sign that the aircon condenser has a leak.  If there is insufficient cold air it could be a clogged aircon condenser. Situated in front of your car's water radiator, the Mercedes-Benz aircon condenser is an easy target for corrosion and dirt which can cause problems with this part. Have a chat with your mechanic, and once you have established this part needs replacing, buying a new Mercedes-Benz aircon condenser will ensure you get the perfect for the make and model of your vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz trivia

  • Mercedes Benz cars have always been a big part of the Jurassic Park films, but the first movie went all out, with the stars emerging from a red Mercedes GLE Coupe before walking down the red carpet. Mercedes cars are also used throughout the film franchise.
  • The longest sedan vehicle available in today's car market is the S-Class Pullman, at a mind-boggling 6.5 metres long. Bear in mind that the average length of a sedan is only 4.7 metres!
  • The Popemobile is a Mercedes Benz M-Class SUV. It's not a standard model, however, and has some added features like an inbuilt oxygen system and bulletproof glass.
  • Mercedes are responsible for a lot of 'firsts' in their long history, including the world's first production of a diesel car. Very impressive, but it only had three wheels. Production stopped pretty quickly in the late 1950s.
  • Ever noticed that you've never heard a Mercedes rattle or make any kind of squealing sound? You never will either, because all of their vehicles are welded in up to 10,000 places! You're not going to find a loose nut or bolt rolling around.
