About Clutch Slave Cylinderss

Mercedes-Benz clutch slave cylinders are essential in the operation of the clutch and are mounted on either side of the transmission. The clutch is responsible for disconnecting the engine when you bring the vehicle to a stop. The Mercedes-Benz clutch slave cylinders are connected to a rod which is connected to the clutch master cylinder. When a driver presses on the clutch this creates pressure, which is turned into hydraulic pressure in the clutch master cylinder and is transferred on the rod. This pressure is then exerted on to the Mercedes-Benz clutch slave cylinders.

Issues with the Mercedes-Benz clutch slave cylinders are potentially serious and should be rectified immediately. You may notice leaking hydraulic fluid due to a broken seal on the cylinder. This broken seal will also mean that air gets in to the hydraulic system which will make the clutch feel spongy. The clutch pedal may also be near to the floor which can make it impossible to get in to gear as the clutch will be constantly engaged. It’s worth noting that clutch master cylinder issues are very similar to those noted above so care should be given to diagnosing clutch issues.

Mercedes-Benz trivia

  • Karl Benz obviously gave his name to the company, but the Mercedes part of the name comes from the daughter of his customer and friend, Emil Jellinek. Her name was (obviously) Mercedes, and it's still surprising that her name remains so attached to the iconic car brand.
  • The Popemobile is a Mercedes Benz M-Class SUV. It's not a standard model, however, and has some added features like an inbuilt oxygen system and bulletproof glass.
  • Karl Benz might have patented the design of his Motorwagen in 1886, but it was his wife who jumped behind the wheel first for a quick (as quick a 0.9hp will deliver) 120-mile tour through the countryside of Germany. Poor Karl didn't even know!
  • We all recognise that distinctive Mercedes logo, but did you know that the three points of the star represent air, land, and water? There was a point where they considered adding another point to represent space, but they decided against it in the end.
  • Ever noticed that you've never heard a Mercedes rattle or make any kind of squealing sound? You never will either, because all of their vehicles are welded in up to 10,000 places! You're not going to find a loose nut or bolt rolling around.
