About Handbrake Covers

The Vauxhall handbrake cover is a leather or fabric gaiter of a complimentary colour to match the vehicles’ interior. This gaiter covers the base of the handbrake in the vehicle. Its job is partly aesthetic, and gives the handbrake a finished look. It’s also used to protect the inner workings of the handbrake and ensure that they are not exposed. Because this cover is made from fabric it is prone to damage and dirt. If this occurs, it is possible to replace the cover with a suitable alternative.

Some vehicle owners prefer to change the Vauxhall handbrake cover for cosmetic reasons. There’s a great deal of interest in modifying a vehicle’s interior to give it a new, personalised touch and if a change of colour in the vehicle’s upholstery and interior is completed, many will want to also compliment this with similar or contrasting fittings.

Some Vauxhall handbrake covers are completed with a metal, rubberised or leather grip to cover the handbrake itself. These come in a variety of styles and patterns and also play an important role in ensuring that the driver can grab the handbrake in an emergency. Damaged grips should be replaced as soon as possible.

Vauxhall trivia

  • The colour yellow that Vauxhall uses on its cars is named 'Maddox Yellow,' after pensioner Richard Maddox had his Corsa vandalised. Residents of the small village of Arlington where Maddox lived thought the car and the colour were ugly!
  • If you're looking for a real bargain, you can't go wrong with the Vauxhall Viva. This small hatchback is the cheapest model that Vauxhall makes!
  • WWII got in the way of making cars, as Vauxhall started building the famous Churchill tank instead. It was designed and started rolling out of the factory in less than a year, and they made over 5,600 of them!
  • It's the Corsa that is, by far, the most popular make produced by Vauxhall. Even as late as 2019, there were twice as many Corsa sales as there were of any other type of car.
  • If you thought you were seeing mostly grey Vauxhalls on the road, your eyes aren't going funny. It's the most popular colour for Vauxhall cars.
