Overview

The Kia Soul is a small family car which is produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturing company Kia Motors. This car has been in production since 2008 and was first sold globally in 2009 for the 2010 model. It has been produced over two generations, with the latest version released in 2013. The Soul has very distinctive looks which you either love or hate. It is similar in some ways to the Nissan Cube, especially the love/hate thing. The Soul has the great Kia 7 year warranty and is extremely well equipped with plenty of excellent safety features. It is also very practical, has great handling and is very comfortable and reasonably spacious. It may not be as economical as some leading rivals, but is a good little car. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Soul?

History

The first generation (2008-2012) was first seen at the 2008 Paris motor show and was designed by the Kia Design team in California USA. It was released for the Asian market for 2009 model and the rest of the world for the 2010 model. There was minor changes made in 2011 but in 2012 there was a larger facelift to both the interior and exterior. The second generation (2013-present) is based on the Track'ster concept and is both wider and longer than the previous version. This is the current version in production. It is a more rigid car than its predecessor and it has several interior and exterior alterations. The gearboxes were changed to 6-speed for both manual and automatic.
