The new 2014 Ford Transit Courier has landed a role in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS). 11 of these vehicles will be used across Scotland and will be mainly used in fire prevention. They will carry equipment and take fire personnel to fire risk assessments at business and public buildings as well as well as being used at fire safety demonstrations. Scott Roberts is the fleet manager at SFRS and this is what he had to say on the role of the Transit Courier in the SFRS: “It’s a small van but the load space within is excellent and more than adequate for the job, but our chief concerns are whole-life costs and ease of maintenance. When you have a region to cover as large as Scotland, an extensive dealer network is vital and of course, Ford has a dealer in nearly every large town.” The Transit Courier is not the only Ford vehicle to seal a deal with the SFRS. The Transit Custom and 4x4 Ranger have also been selected. Terry Adams is the Ford direct sales manager and he is happy to see several Ford vehicles being used in the SFRS: “For the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the extensive Ford range of cars and commercial vehicles ticks all the boxes, with a model ideal for every function within the service. Ford provides an unrivalled customisation service for ‘blue-light’ applications, and of course its service network across the UK is second to none. We are delighted to see our products helping protect the public.” What do you think of the new Transit Courier? Do you think the Ford range of vehicles was a good choice for the SFRS?
