Honda have released the new 2014 Honda CRZ HPD Edition which is an even sportier version of the already released CRZ. The CRZ was released in 2010 and is a sports hybrid coupé which has a combination of a 1.5L petrol engine and electric powertrain. The CRZ is seen by many as the spiritual successor to the previous second generation CRX which ceased production in 1991. The CRZ is one of the lowest pollution vehicles available and in the US it is rated as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEP). Now with the introduction of the HPD Edition, there is a high performance version of this vehicle available to those who still miss the old style CRX. Honda Performance Development (HPD) has been around for almost 20 years and they have done a lot of work with Honda's racing cars, particularly in North America. The new 2014 CRZ HPD Edition will be the first time that they have offered something for a purely production car. All the HPD parts fitted to this new model can be fitted to any standard CRZ in production so will be available if you want to upgrade your current CRZ. This is a very customisable vehicle which gives the buyer the option of which HPD parts they want fitted and these parts include: injectors, supercharger kit, exhaust upgrades and much more. Fitting this supercharger kit will take the standard 1.5L engine from 122bhp to a massive 187bhp. The HPD Edition also comes with lower suspension, sports shocks and 18” alloy wheels. This is definitely a car worth considering if you are after a Japanese performance car. Watch the 2014 Honda CRZ HPD Edition video below:
