Production of the new 2014 Vauxhall Vivaro has helped to secure 1,200 jobs at the Vauxhall factory in Luton.
This is the biggest production plant of its kind in the UK and is a real boost for the local area and the UK economy.
Opel/Vauxhall have spent roughly £160million on producing this new model and a large percentage of the vehicles produced will be sold across Europe.
Tim Tozer is the chairman and managing director at Vauxhall Motors and he had this to say about the new Vivaro: "Vans have life cycles of around ten years, so for a long time in the future this factory in Luton is going to be building this great vehicle and exporting nearly half of the production. So, this is not just a van manufactured in Britain for the UK market. It's a van manufactured for Europe in the UK."

The new version of the Vivaro has a stylish design and is fitted with some new engines. There are four variants of the 1.6L diesel engine which are available with 89, 113, 119 or 138bhp. They are all variants of the CDTi diesel engine but the latter two are BiTurbo CDTi engines. The new BiTurbo engines have an improved fuel economy, which is said to be around 47mpg.
The new front end design includes a flat nose, with new headlight design and LED daytime running lights.
