Daihatsu Fourtrak 4x4 Overview

The Daihatsu Fourtrak 4x4 is classed as an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) and was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Daihatsu Motors. This vehicle was in production from 1984 to 2002. These vehicles are in competition with the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender. This vehicle is known as the Daihatsu Rugger, and Daihatsu Rocky in most export markets, but the Fourtrak in the UK. They are well capable off-road vehicles but are not very good on-road. They are well built vehicles with solid engines. They are not the most comfortable vehicles, and lack refinement. Daihatsu Fourtrak 4x4 History

The first generation (1984-92) Fourtrak was designed as a replacement for the Daihatsu Taft and was available in short wheelbase form with removable hard top and a soft-top convertible version. There was also an extended wheelbase version available which could seat up to eight people in the rear. The petrol engine was a 2.0L and there were two 2.8L diesel versions. The second generation (1992-2002) was more of an evolution of the previous version. There was improvements made to the suspension and the 2.0L petrol engine was replaced with a 2.2L version. The diesel engines were fitted with intercoolers which increased the power output. Production of this vehicle ceased in 2002.
