About ABS Pumps
An integral part of the ABS system, the Mitsubishi ABS pump is part of the hydraulic unit and works with the ABS Control Unit ECU and ABS modulator to regulate your car's braking system.
Fundamentally, the Mitsubishi ABS pump is part of a vital process which ensures you are able to maintain control of steering, enabling you to brake safely and smoothly by regulating the air pressure in the wheel brakes. The Mitsubishi pump plays its part in this process by pumping the pressure released from the brakes back up. When a wheel is likely to lock and skid, air pressure is adjusted in the brake chamber to stop this from happening and the Mitsubishi ABS pump ensures this pressure is pumped back up again.
As with all parts over time, your Mitsubishi ABS pump will end up wearing out. It is common for the pump motor to burn out with continued use and you will need to fit a new pump. If your Mitsubishi ABS pump isn't working, the ABS warning light will show on the dashboard. The ABS system will automatically stop working if there is a fault with your Mitsubishi ABS pump. Though you will be able to continue to use your brakes, you will not be assisted by ABS.
Mitsubishi trivia
- Mitsubishi was the first company to introduce a 4x4 to Japan. Their shares skyrocketed by almost 11.6% immediately.
- Mitsubishi is ranked as the 16th biggest manufacturer of vehicles in the world and is currently on sale in over 160 countries.
- The three diamonds that make up the Mitsubishi logo are meant to represent a water chestnut.
- Mitsubishi didn't just break a record in 2011; they broke five in one day! In a durability test in Canada, they smashed records for the greatest distance driven in reverse on snow, the shortest braking distance on ice, the fastest vehicle slalom on ice, the fastest driven square lap, and the most vehicle figure eights on ice in two minutes.
- The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is hard to park. That's because it doesn't have a reverse gear! Rather than simply sliding it into reverse, drivers have to change the rotation of the first and third gears. It saves weight, but it's not easy to get used to.
